How Sudoku StepPilot handles information

Sudoku StepPilot is a Sudoku learning and solving companion. This policy explains what information the app handles, why it is handled, and the choices available to you.

Information we handle

Information you enter or create

Sudoku StepPilot does not currently require an account. Puzzle boards, candidate notes, solving progress, and preferences may be processed to provide the game and learning features.

If you recommend an Amazing Step, the selected puzzle state, solving-step information, and the nickname you provide are sent to our API and may be displayed publicly in the Amazing Steps collection. You can use “Anonymous” or another nickname instead of your real name.

Information stored on your device

Theme, sound, language, quick-mode, automatic-candidates, and autoplay-speed preferences are stored locally on your device. Challenge progress and the list of Amazing Steps you have completed are also stored locally. They are not sent to us solely because you change a setting or complete a challenge.

Service and technical information

The app requests puzzles and learning content from Sudoku StepPilot API services. Network providers and hosting services may process technical information such as an IP address, request time, device or browser metadata, and security logs when handling those requests.

On-device processing

The Sudoku board, candidate notes, validation, hints, autoplay, and Amazing Step challenges are processed on your device by the app and its Rust/WebAssembly solver. The solver does not require an account and does not send your board to a separate AI service.

Shared links

When you share a puzzle or an Amazing Step, the app creates a link containing puzzle or step identifiers and board-state information needed to reopen that view. Anyone who receives the link may be able to see the shared puzzle state. Sharing uses your device’s operating-system share sheet or clipboard; Sudoku StepPilot does not receive your contact list.

Optional voice features

If you enable a voice feature, the text needed to produce the requested spoken message may be sent to the selected text-to-speech service. Sudoku StepPilot does not use the microphone or record your voice for the current app experience.

How we use information

To load puzzles and provide solving, hint, autoplay, and learning features.
To display Amazing Steps that users choose to recommend and to support challenge and result views.
To maintain service reliability, prevent abuse, and diagnose errors.
To provide optional voice playback when you request it.

We do not sell personal information. We do not use puzzle-board data to build advertising profiles.

Retention and deletion

Local preferences remain on your device until you clear them, uninstall the app, or reset the app’s storage. Publicly recommended Amazing Steps may remain in the collection while they are useful to the service.

To ask about removal of a recommended step or information associated with it, contact us using the address below. We may retain limited records when necessary for security, legal compliance, or service integrity.

Security

We use HTTPS for supported network communication and take reasonable measures to protect information handled by the service. No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Your choices

You can use Sudoku StepPilot without creating an account, decline optional voice features, avoid recommending public steps, avoid sharing links, and clear locally stored app data through your device settings. You can also stop using the service at any time.

Children

Sudoku StepPilot is not specifically directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the app or its data practices change. The date at the top of this page indicates when it was last updated.
